Hello,This year I have tried using Jiffy pellets for my fig cuttings. I am very happy with the outcome so I'm here to share it.Because I did not find the long tipe of the Jiffy pellets I used two smaler ones for each cutting. Put them in a small plastic cup with holes on the botom and another on top for keeping the humidity but it also has holes for some fresh air exchange. depending on the variety they rooted after 2-3 weeks. The root are very thick and strong. After I see roots I transfer the plants in 1l containers using just plain composted pine needles with some Osmocote slow release fertilizer. After experimenting with different soil mixes I find pine needels to be the best medium for my figs. The PH is around 6.0.
Looks good, nice to see the small one surviving and growing.
Posted and used these a few years back with good results.
What size jiffy pot and what length of cutting?
These are Jiffy pellets and the lenght is up to you. As you can see I've rooted one that was only 2 sm long.
keep us posted on how that little cutting goes. thx
Pen,Do you have pictures of the leaves, figs, tree of Bursa Black, Freckled Beauty and Grosse Grise de Notre Dame??
