Eating figs - room temp or refrigerated?

This may be a stupid newbie question - but when you eat figs, are they generally room temp or refrigerated?  Is it anything like wine where the temp makes a difference in taste?

My trees are young, so I have only picked a few right off the tree and eaten them.  Most of the figs I have eaten have been store bought and refrigerated.

I prefer all fruits I eat to be room temperature, including figs. Most things have greater taste that way. I even prefer to let a slice of watermelon to get less cold before eating.

Good question.  I prefer mine at room temperature, but that's because I don't pick enough to store.  If they're off the tree and not immediately consumed, they go in the fridge for up to 3 days.

I would say it is very much like red wine. I like them a little colder than room temp. Too cold and it mutes the flavor(s). Although still refreshing.

Right off the tree is the way I like them best. Like Frank, if I need to keep them up to three days in the frig then I bring them out for several hours
to let the sugars settle back down.

I like most anything room temperature, but especially fruit and many veg. More flavors are imparted. Cold pizza, though, is really good.

Some fruits are much better chilled......Lychee for example and watermelon.  Hate to buck the trend but I prefer my figs chilled just a bit.

All mine are eaten fresh off the tree.  Probably has more to do with not enough figs to keep up with appetite of me kids and grandkids though.

Have to agree with Arne cold pizza for breakfast is good.  I think that is learned as a teenager.  Wife and I order a large eat about half to 2/3 next morning breakfast.

I like to put them in the microwave for about 20 seconds. Just kidding. Fresh off the tree for me.

Cold because it is hot outside... and they are more freshening a little chilled.

Room temp for me.

They go right into the fridge. Our garden tomatoes stay at room temp until they are eaten or preserved.

Room temp 70*F to 80*F, preferebly after sitting for 1-2 days (it dehydrates the thin skinned varieties and intensifies the flavor), but I also like them frozen with Vanilla ice cream.

There obviously needs to be a distinction between room temp and just picked from the tree temp.  It is hot as heck in Florida, so I don't like to eat what little figs I have picked - straight off the tree.

I am with Wills, I like them slightly chilled.  I like to pick my blueberries and leave them in the fridge for a few days as well.  But I have only had picked from the tree and refrigerated figs, so I guess I need to try them at room temp.  Or maybe cellar temp? :)

I prefer fresh off the tree or shortly after, morning not so much but mid day to evening for me is the best.

Just off the tree temp.

Always at room temperature, too cold it loses its flavour.

Room temperature is my preference.

Off the tree picked early before the weather gets hot.  Perfect!

Usually right after picked. Share with the wife and kids.

I prefer room temp and as fresh as possible.

Hi,
I prefer them off the tree if in a shaded position. Else I take them to a shadowy place or inside the house, and we eat them at room-temp .
I froze some, but still didn't have the opportunity to test them .

Hi, I enjoy eating my figs at room temp. I have also tried freezing figs and eating them over the winter as an iced fig. It's good too.

You'll just have to try them various ways.  Some people like to cook figs.  For me they lose most of their flavor.  I like them cool best.

Like them chilled and also right off the tree.
Pick them in the morning when possible and eat as many as I can right off the tree.  Eating right off the tree is a great feeling.

The rest of the figs if they need to soften a bit I leave them in a bowl maybe covered with a fig leaf on the table.
If they are perfectly ripe and everyone has had their fill and we are not processing them (freezing, drying or cooking).  Then I put them in a bowl in the fridge.  I find I need to cover them a little or they will start drying out.  They are still excellent for a few days this way.
