Ebay auctions for rare fig cuttings?

New member here, although I've been perusing the forum for a while. I'm trying to build a collection of great figs, and I know that one of the best ways is to order cuttings from Jon. However it seem that the rare ones are in high demand, so I'm thinking of turning to eBay.

I see there's quite a few listings for rare cuttings like Bourjasotte, Col de Dame (Black and White), Hollier, Long d'Aout, Ronde de Bordeaux, etc. Some seem to get quite expensive... Any strategy on how to win at a more reasonable price?

You should search the forum threads for "ebay", many legit sellers, some not so....

Hello Lobito,

When in doubt about the seller turn here and ask. You don't want to spend X amount of dollars and get burnt.

Good luck

Def research sellers before purchasing anything .

Welcome to the forum lobito. Hard to find varieties often fetch really good money on eBay. Just be patient. Once the rush of getting any particular varieties are over, prices often go down quite a bit. Just make sure you buy your cuttings from trusted seller.

I usually troll around ebay too. Just stick around, it will come to you freely or cheaply... this forum is full of genuine individuals who are willing to give them away( to active-participating members) if you are patient. If not, out of convenience of eBay, rare cuttings that you see will be pricey, and it is competitive depending on how deep your pockets will go

Best of luck
Jennifer

Another option is to email the ebayer and simply ask if they are a member on the forum and if so ask for there screen name .
Sometimes they mention it in the listing .
