eBay Giant Brown Turkey

on eBay right now there is a person selling  Giant CA BT. I knew i had seen those pics somewhere before, so sent him a question through eBay and asked them if those were the actual pictures of his own fruit. The one with the two figs in his hand and the cat on the deck. Here is the response.

"Yes. It is from my trees. Shipping fee is just about 4 dollars. You can see pics on list to see its flesh. It should be about 20 dollars but my trees is too large to sell it out.

- firebirdstore"

I then found the original pic on GW , search Giant Brown Turkey to find it.  I ahve spoken with John  and asked him if that was his listing on eBay. He has replied back and said it is NOT him. He doe not sell on eBay at all and has sent the person an e mail asking them to remove his pictures.  So here is one more to add to the bad seller list. I just dont want somebody to get taken and only to figure out only after years of labor they have been taken of their money and time.  I also have responded back to firebirdstore and told him we now  know what kind of seller he really is.

Good Looking Out Mike. Another person that wants to take the fun-out-of-figs.

Good catch ! thanks !!!

Good work, Mike!  Thanks

The original auction included a statement that he's a full time farmer growing figs as a hobby (at least the second person to steal that phrase from me).  I see his new auction doesn't include the photo of the fruit in John's (from GW) hand, but still includes his photo of the mother tree.

An infringement claim has been filed

I had also filed a complaint.  Second auction is down and the ID shows they are no longer a registered user.

Thank you all. It was a group effort couldn't have done it without you all (y'all as we say it down here) lol
I am happy we got him, but sad at the same time. I sure was hoping it was legitimate because it looks an awfull lot like Martins unknown purple.

Mike.

The fort washington,MD address was used in the 2008 address and I noticed the new listing was the same address but an ID with only a feedback score of 1, so clearly someone using new names each time he gets booted off. Not fun playing fig police, but I filed a complaint since I saw the stolen pictures and words from a past listing belonging to someone else. I was sent dead cuttings last year from someone on eBay in this general area in MD so I am little leery of buying scions from anyone not on this forum now.

Thank you for saving the world from an unscrupulous brown turkey fig seller.

So, one more time; Don't use other peoples pics when selling your cuttings on eBay. Fig Police?  We're more like Fig Mafia, lol!  Nobody messed with the family.

Apparently this seller has been in private email exchanges with a few of us and does not think we are being accurate in our assessment of him, regardless he has used copyright protected information belonging to others and it was used without permission raising doubts on what is actually being sold. Too many red flags here, lets take the topic of this seller offline since formal complaints have been filed and the seller is watching this and already has been warned that we are smart buyers and tend to also be smart growers. Cheers!  I was thinking of Fig Marshalls, sounds more federal and more kind than Mafia or at least legal!
