ebay jolly tiger - not

now popcornqueen1987 / leskev1212 now has a jolly tiger for sale ? doesn't look like a tiger to me ? I guess it is safe to say none of her other trees are what she claims them to be ?

Awww, and this comes right after a thread on this board about how the Jolly Tiger is one of the easier plants to identify with its variegated leaves.  That's kind of sad...

I dont do ebay, but someone should flag the listing who does.

Shame Shame Shame I cannot believe what people will do to make a few extra bucks to screw someone thank you Dave for sharing this.

No bids on it though.  I doubt it will sell.  They should be ashamed.

Their positive rating is under 95%. For ebay, the limited I've seen, that's quite low.

Not so jolly. Laughed when I saw it.

Reckon it's another Brown Turkey?

I asked why it isn't variegated but the auction will probably end before it shows.

It's sad when scams go on Ebay.  As for the Jolly Tiger, I read what you who have it wrote.  You must cradle it.  It's not a fig tree you can just stick in the ground and enjoy.  NO!!  You must protect it.  If it gets too much sun, it will revert to all green.

Maybe jolly popcornQueen is selling the real deal, but she stuck it in the sun?  I'm taking it off my wish list.  Too much effort for not enough joy!

I do have a Panachee that is finally giving me joy.

Suzi

I'd like to think that she made an honest mistake when she put up the picture  but even an idiot can see that that picture clearly isn't a jolly tiger.

No, if it reverts to either all green or white, it does so based on unpredictable things that happen at the cellular division level, not because of the sun. Full sun might sun-burn the white parts of the leaves however - but that means they might dry and turn brown.

Nope. A leaf will be variegated in the same pattern forever once it forms. Going all green is not the same as a human getting a sunburn and turning your skin red.

I think the Jolly Tiger is too much trouble.  No longer interested in the breed.  I think it's a Panachee gone weird, like a seed or something.  Took it off my list, but I would NEVER pay what popcorn queen wants on Ebay, and the only way I'd take it would be as a trade for a cutting from a trusted member here, and since they all know my stand on this breed, they'd be crazy to offer me one.  Opting out of the JT!!

I believe it's "High Maintenance,"  And no fig gets that over yours truly!!

Suzi,

JT is not very demanding. It's a pretty good grower and produces large decent figs. The leaves are susceptible to burning though, but they replace pretty quickly. But hey, I'm not twisting your arm.

Suzi (Desert Dance), i can help you this fall with cuttings of:Alma,Barnissote black and Hunt.Remind me (pm me) later in fall.  Marius

She repsonded to my eBay question and claimed the leaves are variegated. I asked her to posT a close up photo.

She's going to spray paint some leaves white....

I wrote to her, indicating that her tree was not a jolly tiger.  Here's her response:

I would like to know more about how this is not a Variegated Jolly Tiger Fig. I purchased 4 of these from a woman who is also a member of Figsforfun, a fig tree forum..

- leskev1212

Let's just say it is... It's not showing any variation. Then there is another one down one on the list 1/3 the size with tremendous variegation.

The bidder would be making a leap of faith

LOl, she purchased four (4) of them? She must have deep pockets. If one believes her...

How could she not tell it's not a jolly tiger? Perhaps she doesnt understand what the word 'Variegated' actually means.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

WOW, She's got a few bids now......  Better get in on it folks!

Can't believe people are actually bidding on this as a JT. Very sad.

Last bid was $41... Fortunately the auction will be over soon.

But she said she had 4? That means more to come.

Bidders only encourage these idiots to keep cheating.

I asked her for a picture of the mother tree or more detailed shot of leaves and she asked for my email, but alas, no pic.'s. Oh well, I guess I'll loose out on this super bargain and regret my bad luck. Yeah, sure. I'd love to know who won this bidding as this person seems to bid on everything fig related but I've not seen them win - which is no big deal, I'm just very curious about who constantly bids on the figs.
Well, 5 minutes to go and no new bids. I guess there aren't too many suckers out there after all. The forums prove their worth on this one.
