Elana 2 Fig Pic

Fig plant came from Italy via a migrant family from Victoria on Vancouver Island. No name hence I
gave it a name after the owner's daughter so that I know where it came from. My friend's fig tree was planted by his Dad(Italian). This tree has no winter protection. Productive & good tasting. Would be great if someone can id this variant -- this one is different from my Large Greek Dark which is rounder. Its similarity are the "ribes". Elana 2 ripens to a darker color than Large Greek Dark.

Is there more than 1 Elana?

There are 2. I have shared cuttings at most with 2 people on Elana 2. So far cuttings I shared
have mostly been Elana 1 and it has a smooth rounded dark skin. I personally like Elana 1 over
Elana 2. Both figs came from Italy. I will post pic's of Elana 1 soon as it is ripening too. Elana 1
is a larger fig. Both my trees are never protected in winter and are in-ground.

Looks great.

Nice looking fig

Paully22 those are great looking fig trees.  If you don't mind where do you live and weather zone.  I'm always looking for trees that will live outside no protection.

thanks

Cool Pacific Northwest - Near Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada -- zone 6/7. There are lots of fig
trees in Vancouver & I suppose some of the best varieties are here as the immigrant population from
Iran, France, Portuguese, Spanish, Greece, Italians are large. Lately I have got lazy in hunting for new fig variants as I am happy with what I have.

So many over ripe figs -- busy with work and my fishing. Picture Elana 1 fig, 8th Oct 2014

Beautiful.

I believe mine is Elana 1? I ate the first a week ago and the others still look at least 2 weeks away from ripening, but I gave it no spring warm up and we are very cool here. Mine grows very slowly, but is productive. Many thanks Paully!

I know this post is old, but I'm looking to buy Elana fig cuttings, Elana 1 I suppose. Any help appreciated :)
