Elana Fig

Very nice. Do you have a taste description ?

One more KEEPER. Wished we had a few more to sample. This is the 1st fresh fig
that me & wife had sampled. It was so delicious. It paved our journey to seek & grow
our own figs. Thanks to Prof. Bostock who responded to my internet quest & Jon's
efforts in meeting all Canadian Food Inspection Agency(CFIA) requirements to facilitate
importation.

Elana is a 2nd generation fig in Canada. It was brought in by an Italian immigrant like over
40 yrs ago. My friend's dad had asked his friend(Italy) to send him cuttings on the best tasting fig.
The mother tree had a major die back the following year we sampled its figs. Until today, the
mother tree had not produced any ripe main crop figs from new growth. It is hard for me to describe
Elana's taste apart from citing I want MORE. I had missed a bunch of ripe breba figs, hidden by
leaves and this is the only edible one as the others were over riped & full of ants. This single edible
Elana fig would have been missed if not for ducking down to pick Conadria figs. My wife also
commented on its excellent taste. To the person I promised cuttings, it will be send this Fall.
