Elder Trees Done

My el.sals and my hardy chicago are done for the season .
This warm season has saw them ripen the crop very close together on each tree. Ive been growing these 2 for a number of years and first time i dont get figs in September from them ever.

I am happy for you that you got the reward for your labour of love from these two trees. So far I have got only one ripe fig on Sal EL main crop and it was very sweet but did not get dark enough. But I am sure that the next few sunny warm days will push some more to ripening. I can see the signs of swelling in a couple of more figs in Sal and HC.  So far I have never got two main crop ripe figs on the same day. This may change in the future when I will have a few desired (early ripening) varieties only and the dud ones gone.

Hi Akram,
when your trees get more seasons old the crop will be more closer and not as sporadic.
More heat in season they will come a little earlier less heat a little bit later.

I actually like when mine come in late August into September seems the taste is a little better instead of getting ripe to fast in the heat.

Martin, I can tease you now  ,just had this morning 1 Sal`s fig :)

Oh thats ok Remis its a good fig but not my favorite, actually its dropping down on my list of figs !
Speaking of teasing
Have any Violet de Bordeaux figs yet ?

My VdB`s does not show any sign of ripening. Both plants have figlets on them I hope they still ripen this Fall. I got 4 Black Madira figs on the tree hope they they will ripe also.

Martin, my Sal`s  figs are in it`s peak ,almost a month later then yours.
Next sommer they should be about same time as yours.
