Emerald Strawberry, 143-36

A very unusual tasting fig for me. After hearing mixed reviews, I didn't know if I would be lucky enough to taste it at its best, however it was a delicious and memorable fig.

BTW, thanks to Optimist (Lilli) for advice on downsizing my photos.

Nice looking fig! thanks for posting

I had one in the field in Texas, but my brother ran it over with the tractor. So I dug it up in August, and now it is growing in a container in Denver. It looks like it has made the transition... So next year.

Thanks PHD, the second cut fig had a bit of rot near the eye, so I trimmed it. So far, the three figs I have picked from this plant have matured during rain. I wanted to wait longer on this last fig to try and mature it as much as possible, but I had to pick it. What makes this fig unusual is the coconut flavor and acidity. The first two I picked we're less mature, and I noticed it tasted like fig leaves smell, with a lingering acidity and berry taste. The last fig was much more coconut flavored, and maybe more of a tropical fruitiness, still with the acidity. This has been one of my most vigorous growers since I put it in the ground this spring. It started producing more figs but I removed them, though I still have four more that I expect will ripen soon.

Hope you enjoy it as much as I do James, I wonder how your climate will affect it. I can't wait until next year to try it mature in the heat of the summer, this summer has been cool and everything seems late to mature.
