Here are a few pictures of my Emerald Strawberry / UCR 143-36 tree and a few figs that I picked yesterday.  It was excellent!  Even my wife liked these figs!  Go figure!  Last year I had this tree growing in a pot and the figs were the same size but very acidic; NOT THIS YEAR!  This variety is a fast grower and need lots of room in a huge pot.  Mine out grew its pot so I planted in my orchard.  Ants were a problem until I got the tangle foot.  These figs are a tad sweeter than my Atreano figs and larger!  Enjoy

I did not realize till now UCR143-36 is a synonym for Emerald Strawberry. Coincidentally I am currently starting some cuttings of that. Cool. I so much prefer names to numbers. :)

Is this in the CalVert, Battaglia, Strawberry Verte family??

Dennis:It happened that is sweeter than Atreano,because It can take record hot temperatures better than Atreano,but here in NJ where Summer is not so Hot,Atreano (main crop)is twice as better and twice as sweet and Flavorful compared to Emerald.
Atraeno ,suffers,in flavor and taste, when Temperature is above 95F,as the result of getting ripe too fast.

I also didn't know this name and number went together. I love the green figs with strawberry pulp. I guess my "want list" just got longer. Is there a fig more beautiful then a Battaglia Green?

  I've been growing emerald strawberry for 3 years and so far I really enjoy
this fig,when they are dead ripe they are delicious. Its a fast growing tree 
with nice leaf shape. I'm here in RI and keep it in a pot, In my opinion she's
a keeper, she will only get better with age. No visible fmv, she survives winter
in an unattached garage with just a comforter over her.

Just went on my wish list.  Already put in my UCD order, so another year maybe........  I heard that the green ones don't attract the birds like the dark ones, but I think this isn't true.  The birds like my one seedless green grape every bit as much as the sweeter, seedy red wine grapes.  Figs are probably the same.

Ruben, it has a dark pink center.  I'm getting really lazy and should use my Pentex z-10 camera.  Instead, I've been using my IPAD2.  With my IPAD I don't have to convert the images to under 1M but the photo quality is not that great.  This fig has a excellent sweet flavor.  You have to let the figs stay on the tree longer so the brown and dark spots come.  But the figs are heavy.  This fig at UCD is awesome and so are the ones I have.

Herman, I am picking Atreano figs too and they are sweet.  I think you're right.  The weather factor here could be why ES is so sweet compared to Atreano.  But ES was sweeter.  My wife ate 2!   Its a fight to keep the ants away even with tangle foot!  We've had temps over 103 weeks ago and back then I was watering twice a day.  The temps are steady in the 90s now and I'm back to watering once a day now.  But this fig is a keeper.  It's the largest green fig I have.
