Encanto Farms Fig Cuttings 2014

Just a quick question for Jon -
Was there a problem with my cutting request that caused it to be held till the end? Or was that just chance(if so that's ok with me)? Specifically, I was a little worried that my order was rejected because although I had my 5 requested cuttings in numerical order, the 25 alternates listed were in a rough order of preference, not numerically ordered. If that was a mistake for me to do so, I don't want to repeat that next year. Please understand, this is not a complaint, I am very pleased with the cuttings you have offered me. Thanks for this big Encanto Farms cuttings event, the database you have posted, and for hosting this forum and this community of great people. :)

Ed,
I have no inside info, but Jon V. had specific directions in his Ordering Instructions. Nowhere did he state that an alternate list should be included in the order. This is not to single you out, but to point out that the instructions were very explicit. Following the instructions, I received confirmation in 24 hours and an invoice in another 48 hours and the order was received in 10 days.

How do I order?

Please order carefully and thoroughly. To keep our sanity, it will be necessary to process additions to orders as separate orders, including separate shipping charges. To facilitate filling orders, please list the varieties which you are requesting in NUMERICAL order by their stock number, smallest number first, largest number last, Include the varietal name along with the number. The wrong number gets you the wrong cuttings.

If you do not know what numerical order is or if you do not know which numbers are bigger than other numbers, ask someone to help you. Honestly, based on past experience, some of you need help. The cuttings are stored by number and if you order is not properly filled out, it will have to be set aside for later.

Please include your name, shipping address, email and contribution status at the top of your order.
For example:

Yes, I have sent my contribution to the Figs 4 Fun Foundation.

0320 A    Monstrueuse
1020 B    Violette de Bordeaux
2051 D    Brown Turkey
3001 A    Celeste JN
4010 E    Encanto

E-mail your order to Encanto Farms at encantofarms@cox.net. We will set aside what is available and advise you of the quantities and pricing, including payment instructions.

I hope this helps for next year....

Ed,

I am not sure you were singled out at all. I followed the directions as per Jon's instruction. In fact copied his example and substituted my own info and  they were listed in the correct numerical order with no alternate list. My order was submitted within probably 30 minutes after the list was posted. I received my confirmation the next morning, but heard nothing further until late last evening after you had posted receiving your invoice.  The only other note I made was that my F4F foundation contribution info was in  my wife's name (she writes the checks) and that my address had changed.

Thanks for your concern, Pete.  I understood his specific instructions, and followed them except for adding some alternates.  I did that based on the posts on this forum by 2 members leading up to the big event, who stated that they had added alternates to their request last year and that they had received some of those.  I added a bunch of alternates thinking I would not only have a better chance of not getting shut out of my requests, but that by adding more options, it would enable Jon to also fill the requests of others without them being left out.  There were only so many GM-155s to go around, you know  :)   And I did get a confirmation within the first day after putting in my requests also.

I just want to know if I made an error in Jon's view, so as not to repeat it next year.  As I said, I am satisfied with my promised cuttings, just asking for clarification in case I screwed up rather than it just being a matter of him not being able to get to every request at the same time.

3 out of 5,you did great,I got 1 out of 15.

Gloria, sent you a PM.

Oh well, I guess I didn't make the final cut.

Does it seem like we are getting even more cold weather than normal?  Is Martin at it again?

He's just getting back at me for my earlier comment... Did you see what he did to my trees in the greenhouse? He called Karma, but I know it was his little pet polar vortex.

Thank you to all of our customers this season. It has been exceedingly crazy.

A remainder list was posted a few minutes ago. Some things on the list are surely gone, and just not correctly marked on the inventory sheet.

All paid orders are packed and Monday or as soon as Martin gets tired of winter.

Remainders, and others cuttings still in our possession for a (variety of reasons) will be listed on Ebay, along with orders for which payment is not received soon.

Wow.. that's the remainder list?  So.. we have to wait for Ebay listings?  or can we email additional orders from the latest list?

Go for it.

I sent my new order.  Thanks!

Help, I can't find the link to the available cuttings

Here you go, Rhonda.

Sent one too;  thanks.     i hope for the berry ones I asked for!

In for more.  Among other things, I ordered California Brown Turkey this time.  May play around with in as part of some breeding work and also am curious about it when caprified.

I'm in, like I need more.

I noticed that 4 of the ones I ordered the first time, that I didn't get, are still on the list.  They may be the ones Jon mentioned that may be gone but didn't get removed.  I ordered them again along with a few others.  Gonna try Samoa Sunshine and Falls Gold.  They looked pretty good on the varieties page.

Same here with me. I reordered them plus a few others. We'll see.

I missed out this year. :( I really wanted Pananas purple and Macool. Who are all of these fig people!!!! Dagnabbit!!! I don't know where to start on this leftover list.
I'll wait for next year and order sooner. I think I can be patient..

I order a few more varieties, including one I didn't get last time just in case it isn't a typo:

Stock#--$Code---Name------------------Ref#FYI
002-----A-------B Mad 001-------------1475

Thanks Nate. Alas, I don't have 'Office' on this computer. A link to the list that is more accessible would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Here's a PDF version attached, Gina

Thanks, Harvey. Always fun to look at fig lists. There are still lots left.
