ENDERUD UCR 228-20 I like it

Today I picked my first caprifig, Enderud and ate it. The yellow fig, medium size with a very long neck had a very good taste,  slightly canteloupe and pepper!!! I got the tree from UCD a few years back and it was just one of the many (wait & see)potted figs I have.  This year, it had 4 figs on it with no sign yet of a second crop.  I will keep it just for the unique taste and that it is an edible caprifig.  I recommend it.

Great info.  Thanks.  Maybe you can get a heated greenhouse to overwinter your caprifigs in and keep some wasps alive.  You'd have the best figs East of California.  Dennis should do this, too.

Didn't know you could eat a caprifig.  They don't taste horrible?

Bob, if I could , I would. Too bad them wasps like hot weather most of the time. I have a Zidi and Nazarti trees that are trying to make friends with Enderud.
Arabic student, in the varieties section of the figs4fun website, Enderud or UCR 228-20 is listed as an edible caprifig with a very good flavor and I agree for sure. Hope it can stand zone 7 winters in
ground here protected
because when it is least expected, farenheit temperatures can
go into single digits or lower. :-((

Sirlampsalot,

E-mail the photo from your iPhone to your desktop/laptop.  Open e-mail and save to your hard drive.  Make a post on the figgy forum and attach photo.  This is the way I do it but I have a separate e-mail account for my iPhone and laptop.

Didn't know there are edible caprifigs. I'm growing caprifigs Z to see what it's like and see if we have any wasps. Would be good if it turned out to be edible.

I have 3 or 4 Saleeb which is an edible caprifig. Just picked a few figs off it too. Been too busy to photograph them though...maybe tonight after the evening lecture I'm attending on sustainable living: rainwater and gray water harvesting.

Did you like them, Sue!

I picked this Independence Day Enderud breba in the rain, still with a closed eye.  It was watery, but still good.  My wife thinks it tastes mildly figgy, I don't.  It appears to have a grainy texture near the eye but it doesn't

Looking to buy  Enderud and Saleeb cuttings! Anyone out there that has any for sale?
Leo

Hello everyone,
Does any one know how Maslyn Edible Variant taste?
We received few cuttings of it from U.C.Davis.
Thanks,
Frank

Leo, I might have Saleeb. I'll look for it this weekend.

Capri Q is an excellent edible caprifig. I was quite amazed by it at the fig fiesta last year. One of the favorite figs of the day.

I'm also looking for edible caprie figs. I have several varieties to trade or will but them.

Enderub here tastes a little bland to me, but it is edible. Enderubcut.jpg
