English Brn.Turkey verses Bayernfeige Violetta_Pixes

I have the 2,side by side. This 2 figs are brown outside and brown inside when fully ripe.
They never turn black or purple even when overripe.
I think, the English Brown Turkey in this Picture is the real thing,as the name imply.
A fig that in foghy rainy climate of England will still produce good figs while in better dryer climates possible excellent figs.
Above pixes are taken this Morning after 2 days of rain, and as you can see no splitting visible.
I also tasted one fruit each this morning and they are better than average tasting,in this condition.
I assume They, both, will be excellent tasting when older and in better climates.

What do you think:?

Herman,
Never heard of Bayernfeige. Where did you come by this variety? It looks excellent. Is it just a BT?

Bayernfeige is just another name for Violetta. It's a German variety.

Thanks Bass. Under either name, I didn't see any info at F4F.

Well ,Steve The English Brown Turkey I am comparing The Bayernfeige, against, is not any (another)brown turkey,it is "The English Brown Turkey".
The (anothers)brown Turkeys,Are English Brown Turkeys "wanabe".!!!.
"Capiche".
Hope this will help.

That sounded very authoritative. Since I am apparently less experienced than others, why the emphasis on "The English BT"? What is its parentage?

Parentages can be all made up if needed.
This fig is the results of my 10 years search for the English Brown Turkey.
I am done with it .
This is the best selection it can be.
I Grew about 8 kinds of Brown Turkey, and all were inferior to this.

Congratulations on finding a great tree after such a long search. That was not apparent in your earlier posts. Where did you finally locate it so that we can all benefit from your efforts?

Well Steve:I got this fig from a good friend of mine, and I am not sure if he wants everybody on the Message board, to Email him asking for cuttings.
Unless he chime in saying he is willing to do that I am obliged to keep his name confidential.
Hope this will help

Steve, I had to have both of my Violettas delivered from Oregon from a friend who was moving back to my city. I know there was a nursery that did mail order for a little bit but the company that has the patent on them is pretty strict on how it is distributed commercially.

Thanks guys, just trying to understand what made this one so special.

Nobody expressed any opinion, about the subjiect of this post:Are the 2 cultivars similar in Appearance or not?
I may be blind or not sensitive to details!!!!!
People are talking about anything else following this post, but do not express anything, against or for.
Best Regards

Of course they are... because everybody is blown away by your announcement and glowing review of "THE English Brown Turkey, to beat all English Brown Turkey's".

I know I have had far too many different variants of the omnipresent EBT's and they were for the most part, quite , oh how can I put it, lacking in vitality, imagination, and distinction, or commonplace, or just plain dull.

I have never found one "special" enough to warrant planting, since I know at least 5 people at my church who all have EBT's of varying quality they bring the fruit of in every Sunday to give away.

I have recently gotten cuttings from a friend who has 6 unknown trees in the yard of a house they purchased. All the trees were planted at least as early as the 1950's. One of which you have identified as EBT. ( http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/load/fig/msg061009421956.html )

This is the EBT I planed to install in my yard, because it is of "better than most" quality, a consistant heavy producer, as only splits under the most extreme rainy conditions, and mostly because of the history behind it.

But NOW you come out and say I have found THE English Brown Turkey, and my world comes to a screeching halt. I must admit I am in awe, and quite jealous, and in deep desire of this plant.

Well to my novice eyes, I clearly see differences in the leaf shapes but the fruit looks very similar except one seems more reddish than the other (could be the photo quality). Don't know if that helps but wanted to get back on topic.

Here are pics of my baynerfeige:

Here is English Brown Turkey I think:

V,

These are two different figs, correct?  The figs look similar, but the leaves definitely look different.

My second year Violetta trees produced very good figs this year, but they had a little more violet color when ripe - but NOT purple or dark.  The pulp was dark amber.  They were very flavorful and sweet.

I have a BT from Rolling River Nursery with the same color pulp that has leaves that look like the leaves in the picture to the far right.  I don't remember what Marc at Rolling River told me about this fig, but it was also a very good fig.

Henry

I do believe they are 2 different cultivars.
That is why I wanted to find out what other people opinions are?
They look very similar, but the leaves as Steve(one poster above noted, and now you)are a little different.
Both are better than average in my climate, and can take the rain.
That is what I am interested in.
Best Regards

from my very limited experience, the afore mentioned leaves are the only difference I see.
