Enjoying some main crop figs

Sorry no pics, computer is not recognizing any device plugged into usb ports.
Colosanti White has ripened, and a few more starting to swell and change colour.
Colosanti dark is a few days away from eating,
Grimo BT(not)(probably a celeste) was nice and tasty.
Melanzanna Merdescola is changing colour and beginning to swell.
all  plants in pots.
This will be the first year I get to taste the Colosanti white/dark and the MM

enjoy them

I am also picking my colisanti white just now, but the ants keep getting in the large eyes, my Colisanti dark is at least a week away though.  I will put up pictures later to compare.

Yes the C white has a huge eye.
I have not had problem with ants ... yet.
Earlier this year, I had given one C white plant to a woman at work, and this week took in a fig so she could taste it.
found a surprise visitor inside when we sliced it open, an earwig.
aw well, she said, I've eaten worse. So we tossed the earwig onto the floor and shared the fig.

I assume that you are somewhere in northern Ukraine with the 6b zone. I would think that Crimea area would be an ideal climate for fig growing. My friend's wife is from Sevastopol.

Nice figs in a pretty photo. :)

more main crop ripening

English Brown turkey (looks like another celeste not EBT)
Violette de Bordeaux

petite negri (if that is what it is) from EL now swelling and changing oh so very black.

taste wise, of the others, re:

the best tasting is toss up between the  unknown red, which is not red at all but a dark purple/brown and the MM.
the oregon prolific/marseilles was the sweetest, like honey water.
still waiting on the VDB to be ripe.

...noticed some odd markings and holes on/in  many of the ripe or nearly so, figs.
and one morning discovered a tiny spider with its head in one such hole, and subsequenly found the same type of spider at the edge of one of the long skin lesions.

Don't know if you are aware but the MM fig is the same as Longue D'Aout. You are right in that it is an excellent tasting fig. Not excessively sweet but richly flavored, thick and jam like, eh?

Hey grant ,

Sounds like you're having a feast .
Any pics ? Especially the M M . And the Niagara Black progress .

John .

I use an SD card adapter to upload photos, camera cord has been MIA for some time.

Sorry no photos, USB ports are out, computer thinks they have been readied for removal of device and won't read anything in the USB. Brent, you have me totally confused, SD card adaptor??

yes Leon, that is it, ..."Not excessively sweet but richly flavored, thick and jam like,"  I had read that MM is same as Longue D'Aout,, there was some discussion a while back that it might also be the same as the Slocan fig. Three figs, three figs, three figs in one.  I obtained my cuttings from a forum member who got his plant as MM some years ago from Adriano.

Hey John. again sorry no pics. the Black Niagara is doing fine, about waist high now. Not really having a feast, just a steady flow of a fig or two on most days.

Just had one VDB. I would have left it on longer but it was one of two VDB that some critter had pecked or clawed a long time ago, and now with the swelling etc the scar has broken open and there was a beetle of sorts helping itself to the exposed flesh. well VDB is a keeper for sure.

SD stands for secure digital, most laptops have a slot for one. My camera came with an adapter for Micro SD cards, and the Micro SD cards came with an adapter for regular sized SD card slot. My old camera used an SD card so it was even easier.

a white italian
the unknown green/yellow.... looks like a kadota
