Epiphylum

Here is something differant.
It's an Epiphyllum.
It's part of the Christmas cactus family.
I received a big cutting from a friend.
I am letting it callus over for three weeks before I plant it.
The flowers are huge, about six inches across when open.
This variety has orange/yellow flowers.
Anybody here grow these?

P.S. Any Canadians here grow prickley pears? I have not seen any here in Calgary at the garden centers.

Jerry I am not growing any yet but will eventually grow some
Opuntia humifusa " Eastern Prickley Pear" it is now endangered here in Ontario but hardy to -45 Celcius.

Are you going to grow from seed?
Or from cuttings?
Let me know.

Probably 10 years ago I had a nice bunch of Epiphyllum (white flowered) growing outdoors in a pot hanging from a tree branch to provide filtered light. I'm sketchy on what eventually happened to it--I think I must have left it out all winter and it froze to death. They're great plants though--very easy to grow, and the blooms are spectacular. I'm not sure about the other varieties, but mine was night-blooming, so I'd see the flowers in the morning just before they started to wilt. That red one looks like it will be amazing!
