Ever seen these little green flys?

I have never seen these flies before. They seem to really enjoy dancing and flittering about on the fig leaves. I have never seen them before this year, and the fig leaves are the only place I see them. There are no figs here except those supported by people like me so my only guess is that it is some sort of little green fly that really enjoys a background it can feel safe on.

Ever seen them? Any idea what they are? If so are they harmful to my fig trees?

Calvin,
I posted a thread way earlier this year about these. I never saw one in my yard then the figs came. My figs get covered with them but I have no idea what they are. They just seem to sunbathe and dance around the leaves so I just keep my fingers crossed that they are harmless.

KK....You Sir are a GENIUS!!! That is exactly what mine are and I am so relieved to find them harmless. I might add they are only on my plants in full sun, never saw one on a shaded plant.

Spot on! Thanks KK.

I've seen them too, but mine are bit blurier.. wasn't sure if they were flies or some kind of tiny bee.  But that's them, for sure.

The best part is they are a beneficial.  I try do what I can to support beneficials in my yard, so to get another just because they are drawn to figs...BONUS!

I have them in my yard also, specifically have seen them on fig leaves. Glad to know they are beneficial. Thanks for posting that KK.
