SO, I go there to discover that he had trimmed them already.
So sorry everybody that I won't be able to distribute this particular one at this time... He gave me the honor of cutting the last 3-4 branches offf of the younger bush and keep good cuttings (which came to 5-6 cuttings of 3 nodes each) maybe I'll use Charley's "Single Node" method, then more of us can have ...? ;)
But , anyhow...I got to get to know them better and took few photos of the place and his setup, so here it goes.
Her's Barbara and Marcos in front of the Main Green Fig which was heavily trimmed already. And by heavily I mean HEAVILY!!! LOL
On the left is the tree (old pic) that was at the end of last summer, on the right Marcos and Barbara are standing in front of the same tree which was heavily trimmed.Marcos shows NO MERCY when it comes to pruning his figs.
"I'm from Bari, which is on Adriatic side of Italy, of Apulia region" said Marcos proudly..."these green figs are from Naples, which is on Tyrrhenian Sea at East side of Mediterranean. Next time I'll take you to my father's fig trees, from Bari, he brought them 60+ years ago with him to US, (Glendale). There are greens and blacks" he added.
Marcos was showing me how they utilize all the Sunset line for the fig trees
"Figs need long, sunny days in order to become ideal. It's a delicious treat which needs a lot of care, but at the end, it's worth it" he said smilingly.
He uses gentle irrigation system instead of drip or sprinklers to water the figs.
Notice how sandy, dry and rocky the place is. He says it's ideal for the figs.
In this area Marcos wants to plant few of my "Burbank and Vineland Fig" , he really liked them.

Bari...
