Extreme Fig Protection

I had 4 ripe figs and they were swiped!! I've noticed bites in my tomatoes, too!! I saw a raccoon the other night, so I think that varmint is the culprit. Squirrels might be their accomplices.
So, I have some old fencing and bird netting. My beautiful fig trees look like widows in jail. The next thing I plan to do is place peppermint and ammonia around my yard and hopefully it will move somewhere else.
I'll post a pic as soon as I can figure out how to shrink the pics.

I've gone as far as caging my 1st year trees since the deer seem to devour everything else in my yard.  Hope you get to enjoy some figs soon.

i've never seen a coon leave a food source while alive. good luck.

ps: they have long memories.

like the alligator guy say's, Choot em!
or at least trap them and relocate them because like susie said they won't leave a food source.

I have the same problem with my tomatoes and figs, if you look up Bill Figs in the forum he talks about a trap he uses for squirrels and then he relocates them far away. I hate 'em as they ruin my efforts. I am tempted to get those traps. Shiny tape works for birds. Good luck!

I sprayed the perimeter of my front garden where the figs and everything else good is, with PLANTSKIDD (sic) and that was the end of all gnawing varmints.

I always relocate squirrels....from above ground to below ground.  Ok well I just like the saying:)  We live on a lake so they go in the lake and pretty soon a gator comes and gets them as they disappear pretty fast.

This is my set up for the figs. I am also gonna try the plantskydd.
I don't see myself trapping it and driving anywhere. I'm too chicken!!

dead is better. why move them where they can bother other people?

you can use a have-a heart trap, but then use a .22

i may look quiet and shy, but i get fierce when defending my crops.
