They look healthy and happy!  I see they are all air layers!  Good job!  What are the oranges for?

Suzi

I use it for natural fertilizers.....:)

So do you just let the oranges rot in the pots?  Like some sort of compost?  This is wild and interesting! :-))

Suzi

yes, i just let the oranges rot in the pots....:)

Bud, what part of Argentina are you in? Also, what is the weather like now? Can you give us the names of the figs in  the pics? Thanks

I am sorry newnandawg, I come from Indonesia not Argentina....
i was wrong to write it

thank you

Bud, not a problem but would still like to know the
Fig varieties in your pics

Mas Budi, Wow... I've never seen extreme air layering like this.

Mike, I think it's wet/rainy season right now in Indonesia.

Hi Bud,

Great results!!! I have a couple friends who are also fig growers in Indonesia. It does seem you have a great climate for figs. May I ask, are you using a rooting hormone? It looks like you may have a can of it in your 3rd picture.

Very nice! I assume you did not remove any bark when starting your air layers?

Ok, Thanks Bud, Clonex is readily available. It obviously works well for you.

you're welcome BLB

Orange tends to atract slugs.. in fact I used them to [trap- the nasty creatures before I had chickens... at down time the orange is full of the creatures... which could help keep them away from the fig leaves.,..thos nasty creates discriminate nothing...they eat eat eat..

thank's for your share Grasa.

I used orange because I think it is better than using animal manure.....:)

wow.. amazing. that would make short work of propagating the tree.

Fastastic pics...never thought about doing multiple air layers on one branch....As soon as I get some established, I will be trying this method for my favorities.

Makes me want a Panachee fig tree so bad I can't stand it....lol  I'm addicted!

Budhartono, Wow!

Could you please tell me what your average daily high and low temperatures are where you live?

I just find it incredible that figs can be grown in Indonesia, on the equator.

Bud, I'm curious about the oranges for fertilizer. Do you then have little orange seedlings growing along with your figs? Are they oranges or Calamondins? I grow Calamondins, they are very fruitful. I never considered using them in this way. I usually squeeze them into tea.

Extreme air layering? Interesting . Not many of mine are big enough quite yet. Maybe next year.
Thanks for sharing this extreme version of air layering.
