F. Caricacide ("figicide")

Someone arrest me, I'm guilty.  Some will think this is wasteful, it was loaded with fruit, but the fruit tastes terrible, and I'd rather allow another variety to get a good year of growing time in its place.  I waited five years too many to cut this thing down.

Note to rafed:  This is how much I like Brown Turkey.  On to bigger and better things.

Note to those who asked for cuttings:  I have about 30 linear feet of wood I saved.  Ruben, you have some coming your way.  I think one other person asked - if you're that person, let me know before Monday, please.

Jason,

You are getting a fig whip whipping.

That is(was) one heck of a tree. If you had put an ad on craigslist that thing would have been gone in an hour

Tim, I would not wish this underacheiving blandness on anyone, and I don't want anyone bringing potentially unclean shovels, etc. and using them in my yard.  One thing I learned while digging this guy up is that I have zero RKN on my side yard.  It was a nice feeling.

Won't be a nice feeling when you get one them fig whip whipping

I guess im from the any fig is a good fig school. Plants like that are ones you cut down to nothingness and ship to say a zone 6a person for his in-ground fig program!  Seriously though, if its junk its junk

RIP

You did the right thing. Why keep and care for something that is a proven dud. Use the space to try something else.

One mans junk is another man treasure

I have one brown turkey. I don't have a ton of room. Threads like this make me feel like I may have wasted money, and soon, time. But I will wait. No figs on it this year. Maybe next year.

Slingha,  BT is proof that not any fig is a good fig.

I have cuttings here if you want some.  Were you that other person?  I can't wait until later in the year unless I put it in the fridge.... but you can put it in your fridge, so why should I keep it in mine?  ;)

Amen.

No, I'll pass. But if you have the EBT I'm in.

No EBT.  Maybe my loss, I probably won't add another fig with "BT" in the name to my collection.

Woohoo! Thanks, Jason!! I'll let you guys know if it's still crap down here.

I think Jason and that dude on post #10 ( Jon ) are both conspiring to keep all the BTs to their selves.

1-Jason did not show proof what fig tree was destroyed!
2-If they were BT wood laying on the ground then he is preparing to root a new generation of BT trees.

I see several hundred just by that picture alone!

Jason, you have been exposed! Undercover BT fig lover.

Jason, I have a great idea for you!

Since this particular specimen of a tree is so incredibly vigorous, healthy and strong...why not graft some Black Madeira/RDB/KB buds to it?

Oops...too late.

Well that does look pretty extreme. I don't fully understand, but then I haven't tasted your BT. I would never dream of doing that to mine.

I dont blame you Jason if you dont like it do what you gotta do.

Well he does now have room for a nice white

Barry and Rafed, you guys are crazy!  ;)

Frank, this tree was prone to suckering, and it wasnt planted deep enough, it was leaning too much, the list of reasons why I didn't graft are endless....

For me if any plant is not good for my needs, it's tagged as a weed. Thus, it has to go. Only exception is my lawn, cause it's all weeds.

I'm with Barry on this one.
I can see a nice big fat juicy mouth watering White fig with golden yellow honey flavored juicy mouth watering interior.

Ooooh yaaa, time to put on some Barry White.

I just hope you didn't mistake your Maltese Falcon for the BT...

I sure could have used 20 or 30 cuttings now that I think about it ( self kick in the rear ).
I could have rooted them and passed them out to friends and family as they visit.

I don't like to give away my rare or less common ones, and I won't. Unless I have spares.

I still have the cuttings, Rafed.  You want them?  Otherwise Ruben gets an exceptional amount of wood.
