Hey everyone TONYSAC here I know its a little off subject but I think this would benefit all on the forum nothing big I was reading bullets post and I was thinking to avoid the hassle and problem of deleting old PM'S just set up a totally new email on whatever email provider you use like for example Myfigs@blah blah.com so no more deleting and losing info you need plus you can add actual street addresses to the contacts within that new screen name. Plus with seperate email your sure to see the new emails unlike when you use your standard email address it all gets mixed up let me know what you all think PS dont forget to update your profile here on the forum if you change your email.

I think this will benefit everyone who does a lot of tradings, selling, or giving away cuttings. I also like to set up new email for specific purposes. That way I can separate my personal email from anything else.

Well, I already have three emails and I only check one regularly.  It would add to my confusion to have another.  I'm happy with the PM or email through the site.  If you do email through the site, put in the topic something like "From Jodi at Figs4Fun Forum."  That way it won't be deleted as spam.  Someone just emailed me with a topic "Trading," and I took a second look.  I was a serious day trader in the stock market for a while and got tons of spam from that little venture.  Since it didn't have an attachment, I did open it, and it was from a forum member, but I am quick to delete anything smelling like spam.

But with PM'S you also cannot check what you have sent out ? or am I missing something theres times when im in a typing stooper and forgot what I wrote to someone about what there getting and when ?? at least with email you can look at sent emails and figure it out way less confusion plus all info is in one place your address book for the service provider.

Also your new email wont be affiliated with anything you have done in the past with that email (day trading) so if you dont use it for anything else it should and I say should be spam free??

Anthony, yes you can check what you have sent. I think this is what you meant. Click on PM and on the top left there is "folder." Click on
it and you can see sent saved etc.

I have tried that Mike but theres one PM in there and it was to rcantor back when I first joined the forum 5/22/12 all the proper folders are there sent saved etc but theres only one in there ?

Tony, at the bottom of ever PM you begin or reply to, you can check a box to save in your sent folder.  At the top right you can access the drop down list and see every PM you have sent.  If you don't save a copy in your sent, then of course, you won't have any sent PM's in your folder.

I can't have 4 email accounts.  Too much!  Sorry tony!

I understand Suzi its just personal preference im going to try and switch all the info little by little and not use PM any more i guess ill have to sometimes for the people that wont give up there personal email but im hoping I can get them to update my address book .

If everyone who is reading this can send me all there info in PM or email (would prefer email) it would be greatly appreciated or at least name and address with f4f name so I can update my address book for shipping purposes thanks everyone....PS I completely understand if you dont want to

Well, PM (Private Message) system was causing me head aches all the time. Even "DELETE" action button was doing dancing and hide and seek. I got fed-up with it. So, finally I decided to follow two different paths depending on the situation:

1. In some cases, I opened a Word file with name "Ottawan-MemberX.trade2012". Every message to or from MemberX was copied from PM and pasted chronologically in the named file. Only the last message was left undeleted from the F4F PM location. This way I have all record chronologically available in one file. The last message from the PM location is deleted when used for reply. Personally I found this easier.

 2. In other cases, I decide to give my email addess for direct communication bypassing the PM.

That is my real email my fig email the real deal it makes it easier to just make new one for here less bs spam etc

Unfortunately, using the PM is the only way to keep some privacy.  Outsiders have abused this for me and have not been forth coming. So email can open Pandora's box.  No offense.  That's kinda why people are really hesitant to say or show what they have because people get attacked for a cutting. It's a shame but reality.

No not to show what you have as far as cuttings etc just a separate email where things are organized with contact info it's so nice to have name address forum name and phone number and what was traded all under the name it was done under it just makes life easier and it's not your primary email it's you fig primary email
