Hey Everyone,

I have this quarter-sized fig on one of my cuttings that stopped growing about a month ago (maybe even longer).     Not sure what is going on.  

I water about every other day, and fertilize every 2 weeks with Espoma Garden-Tone and bone-meal.    

It's almost a year old, so I'm ecstatic that it's even producing a fig, but would really like to get it to grow/ripen.  Any ideas?

A root sucker did develop around the same time it stopped growing, not sure if it's related.

Root suckers can draw some energy from plants, but that's not what's happening to your fig.
They start out as a little grain of rice, then grow rapidly for several weeks.
Then they stay like that from 2 to 3 months, and you get to watch them mope.
There's nothing you can do but wait.
Suddenly that little fig (if it doesn't drop - search Smyrna, San Pedro, O'rourke) will change color slightly, then grow a little more, then droop.
When you're sure it's ripe, net it, and wait another 2 days to pick it if you can take the torture!
Figs are at the peak of ripeness if you pluck them and there's no latex in the stem.

Congratulations on your first fig. Do you know what variety you have there?

Rui said it best. Patience my friend. Figs just like most other living things grow in spurts with bursts of energy. Your little tree looks great and congrats on your first fig.

I'm right there with you. This is my first year with actual fruit on many of the fig trees. There's a good number of them altogether, but none look like they're going to be ready anytime soon. Other than a couple VdB breba, I've just had unchanging quarter-sized figs held in stasis for weeks now. Tick, tock. :)

Wow, really glad you guys told me that.  I had no clue that it would be another couple of months before ripening   -Otherwise I'd be wigging out thinking I was starving the tree and start over-fertilizing (If I haven't already).
