Would love to be there, need directions from 206.I have to many starter tree this year.Vic from Keansburg N.J.

What's Italian Figs?  I'm not familiar with it.

Still planning on making it to Tim's, though I may have to bow out early.

Nevermind, found the site.  Does anyone know if he carries any interesting or unique varieties?  The ones listed on his site are pretty common.

Barry,
Thanks for the reminder.
I'll be there with a few unknowns for the Raffle.

I'll have a few for the raffle as well. Still deciding on what all to bring but I'll probably have a number of plants (trying to trim down my inventory). Would love to trade with anyone as well.

Tim and Pete, we are anticipating a good turn out so bring as many for trade or raffle as you like. Bring other plants too if you have any.

Excited for the fig meeting, this'll be my first one.  Here's a list of what I plan to bring.  I'm really trying to trim my inventory:

Malta Black
Nero 600M
Salem Dark
Bethlehem Black
LSU Gold
Desert King
Celeste x3
Celeste with tacoma violet graft
Celeste with o'rourke (true) graft (this graft needs some TLC as it was damaged in a windstorm but would make an excellent airlayer)
Brown Turkey (for practice on grafting/cuttings or abuse, I don't really care)

Entek habi saveh pomegranate

---Local Figs---
Walnut St Fig (looks like a Celeste variant)
Enola Italian 1 x2 - Locally growing dark fig
Enola Italian 3 - Locally growing dark fig
Ott's Pink Fig (appears to be a Celeste or variant)
Golden Fig (local store carried it, haven't tasted the figs)

Would love to setup trades with anyone who's interested!

Wow Tim you've got a very nice selection there. Don't know anything about that pom but am curious. I'm sure folks will be interested in your offerings

Barry,

Thanks!  It's good to spread the love and it'll save me having to store all of these over the winter!

I did some research about hardy poms a while back and found that Salavatski, Kazake, and Entek Habi Saveh (this one) were purportedly some of the most hardy.  I've heard that Entek Habi Saveh is quite hardy but needs a longer season to ripen, so we'll see.  I know Bass grows Salavatski and has had quite a bit of luck with it.  These are grown from UCD cuttings so I'm happy to give them away.  Most rooted quite easily so I had extras.  If you'd like one, it's yours, since you're doing a good bit of work to help arrange the shindig.

Thanks Tim, I appreciate the offer. I still have to see what I have to bring. Not much I think as I have been receiving requests for trees from my local gardening buddies, but your welcome to  whatever I am able to bring

Anyone going to Tim's have 3 gal pots to trade for new 6 gal buckets.

Hi Tim (timclymer) I have a Pan e vino white for you, I'll bring it Sunday.

Final bump. Tomorrow is the meeting. We should have a good crowd, some wives and girlfriends are also coming. It seems like most or all who are coming are bringing trees for trade.  I know we are supposed to get some rain tonight but it should be gone by early morning and then the forecast looks great. Looking forward to meeting all you fig folks!!

Sigh...I really wish I could make it.  Too many kid-related things going on tomorrow.
Jim

A more generous group of people I don't know if there could be. What a huge amount of very nice trees everyone brought!! Vic you especially brought a whole lot of really nice trees, literally a truck load! A perfect day weatherwise and a great group of fig folks had a great time today. So nice to meet more of members on the forums.

Went to the Fall Fig Meeting at Tim's house.  It was a picture-perfect, early Autumn day, and meeting some of the forum members was a real pleasure.  So many generous, and friendly people.  Dozens of named variety trees were traded and raffled off, and many interesting local, unknown/unidentified trees also were given away to those who attended.  One, first-time grower, proudly walked away with a bearing-age "Hardy Chicago" and he was eager to learn how to grow his first fig tree to perfection.  I'm sure he will do just fine, and will be tasting figs he grew, next season.

Plenty of delicious food, homemade fig cookies, fruits, snacks, sodas, etc. kept everyone happy and contented.  Just a wonderful relaxing day.

Many thank-yous, especially to Tim Drag and his lovely wife, for hosting this first Fig Conclave, and for extending their hospitality to the forum members.

Thank-you one and all for making this day very special.

Frank

PS:  Had my first taste of a perfectly ripe Pawpaw....it was absolutely delicious, and had the flavor of a creamy-custardy...banana-pineapple-peach!  Folks....this is a delicious fruit to grow!  Too bad you need at least two for pollination, have to wait a few years for fruiting, and that Pawpaws could be a PITA trying to grow them.  Otherwise, deliciously exotic flavor.  No fruit that you can by in the store can come close, except, maybe a ripe mango.

Barry,
Thanks to the generosity of the Hosts, Tim and Michelle, yourself and everyone in attendance, it was a most enjoyable afternoon. Not only was the day filled with figs (and talk about figs), the food was outstanding.

Thanks,
