Farmer's Almanac Tip

From the Farmer's Almanac

  • "To help tomatoes through periods of drought, find some flat rocks and place one next to each plant. The rocks pull up water from under the ground and keep it from evaporating into the atmosphere".
Anyone tried this? might help in these dry times. I am going to put some broken counter granite around a few trees and see what happens.

Please report what you find.  That's one function of mulch in general.

I've put bricks at the base of tomato plants before.  I can't really say if it pulled water up but the area under the brick stayed moist.
