Fastest roots yet.. Yellow Long Neck

I started a Yellow Long Neck on Jan 31st that I got from HarveyC. (along with several other cultivars) Using sp moss in a plastic box, scored and dipped in Dip N' Grow.

I checked them yesterday, and most everything had some nice root initials, but no roots yet.  Checked this morning and the smallest YLN had 2 roots poking out, side by side.  The longs was about 3/16".

Just shy of 11 days!

I was expecting these to take about 3 weeks to root, plus another week in a humidity bin, to get past the last stretch of cold weather here in North Texas.  Looks like I might have to cup this one up in a few more days.

Congratulations!  Good job!

Well done! How are the Saratogas doing?

Haven't started the Saratogas yet.  Soon! :)

I love the look of that fig. I started a couple last year and they died on me. I have a super special 'tip cutting now', and I am treating a bit differently.   I took one   bubble wrapping bag (about 2" x6" or so), cut several holes into it, and filled with moist spagnum moss, and put my special Long Neck in it. and into the box with lid it went.  It is going on about 10 days now, I did not look for a week but noticed the moss getting too dry, so I opened to see, and it was full of calous and white nodes for roots. The tip is still asleep and tucked in. I may have a tree out of this one soon!  Fun!  I wish you luck keeping yours alive.

This year, I am doing the minimum touch of the cuttings... not sure if that helps, but I cannot die of depression if they don't make, like I almost did last year...
