Wow, I guess there is still hope for me! I've been wondering when my package will go out. I keep hearing about others getting theirs and thought UCD might have been done for the spring already. Glad to hear that you got a shipping notice!!

i'm still waiting for some sign it will get here. heard confirmation back in aug. so i guess i'll just sit and wait. last year, it didn't get to me till 3/29.

My order was initially sent on July 20th to Bernard Prins and then resent on July 27th to Mary Parker.  Mary responded to me on the 27th and I received an order number on the 27th also.  The order number email included the statement that the cuttings would ship in February/March.

I got my UCD order March 7th. They sent 3 cuttings each except one only had 1 cutting. All were very nice size. If someone was interested in making as many trees as they could, it would of been possible to cut them into at least 4 pieces each. Too many for me but I did cut them in half just to give me better odds of rooting.

Andrew...congratulations and good luck on your cuttings...I'm still waiting for mine...I was told Feb. / March...so any day now I hope.

Awesome news! Hope we all have better luck rooting these babies now that actually we have some sunshine and warmer days.  It is exciting - I can hardly wait for mine...

Interesting... I got a UPS shipping notice, not a FedEx!

During last Friday's visit to Wolfskill, I asked the crew to send any and all leftover light fig cuttings Martin (Dieseler), saying that I would pay the shipping.

I just got the invoice today.....man, won't Martin be surprised!!!   ;-)

That's funny Paul I requested the same thing, but I donated money to make sure they send him brown turkey as well so it's not a total white fig fest.

Ah, you guys (paul and chivas).  Wouldn't you know it, I was trying to be NICE to Martin, and I asked the folks at UCD to make certain they only sent him dark figs, and not Brown Turkey.  Offered them a good tip for their troubles.  (Now I may be called crazy for trying to be nice in this particular way).  But it sounds like for all of our efforts, it ends up meaning nothing will be sent  (best decline that invoice Paul).

OK, on a note with only slightly less levity, I too am still awaiting my UCD order/request for germplasm.  (Never sure it's appropriate to call it an "order" from USDA / UCD).  Guess I'll see when it gets processed.  But to those of you still waiting:  it sounds as though there are quite a few of us with orders/requests for fig scion still pending.   (whether by UPS or Fedex, I'm sure that depends simply on what kind of shipping account you provided to them when you placed your order/request). 

Martin -- does anyone call you Darth?  (That dark side comment and all).

Funny thing, 2 weeks ago I got my order from the Germplasm Bank in Corvails, OR. I wonder why UCD is so much later but the weather is so much warmer?

Well, it turns out I built up a little too much enthusiasm.  My FedEx email stated the order would be SHIPPED on 3/20, which I read (on my tiny phone screen) as RECEIVED.  I'm now (more correctly) expecting the package to arrive on Friday (tomorrow).

I'll let everyone know what I get.


Since my wife 'borrowed' my lidded containers, any suggestions for a good length of plastic boxes to pick up from Walmart today to hold the branches and moss?

I intend to put them above my seedling mats (but not touching) to get some, but not a lot, of heat transfer.

Got mine on March 8.  Ordered in late October.  Most were so long that I cut them in 2 pieces.  They are in moss right now.  I checked on them last night and I have roots on some that will be going into cups this weekend.  Yipee!!!!!

Assuming I can get my singletons of Black Madeira and Pastilere to root, I have an abundance of riches.

Frankly, I'm not convinced any longer that DFIC 164 is Adriatic, so the error/no ship may be entirely my fault.

Now unfortunately, I leave tomorrow morning for a trip and won't be back for a week.  I just stuck an additional damp paper towel in the sealed bag the branches were shipped in an stuck the bag in the fridge - I assume that's the correct thing to do until I return next week?

Looking forward to posting pictures of my results.

Anyone in Central NJ who needs one of my triples?  I'll assume that I can get at least one winner (rooted tree) from the two remaining limbs if I give one away.
