Feeding the adiction

When i stated on this site a lille over a week ago i did have some fig history. i would root what a friend send me every year. i would buy cutting to root to add a few to my collection while selling the rest.

what i didnt know was all the figs that grew in my zone. for the first year or so i could only fing 3, then 7, now i dont even know.

you guys are so wonderful for all the knowladge you have been willing to share with me. and those of you who have been kind enough to trade cuttings with (no names) thank you. but i sit here thinking of this fig feeling i have as an addiction. i am bidding on two other kinds one on my wish list, and one that should had been. got to be carful of the fig fever. this site is wondeful, but scary at the same time. its like asking a drunk to watch your drink. but thats the fun of it i guess.

Thank you
Dave

Uh oh it sounds like you need FAA............. (Figaholicsanonymous)

sure do. i planned on going with just 15 varieties now it looks like i might be closer to 20 and i cant stop looking for new ones. still expecting cuttings in from some trades, and im buying more and still researching.

If you plan on 20 you might as well make room for 60. :)

If i could figure out where to put them all i would. might have to attach pots to the side of the hous and start going up with em.

It sounds like you need an Intervention ....PS cuttings going out mon

Ok Anthony, will be looking for em.

an intervention, nah i just need a little more space. but i would probly fill it up too. it is what it is.

I hear ya I got stuff at Dads and my place I just dont know what and where to plant yet ?

Sad sad, got out bid the last second and no other listings. maybe next week.

Dave,
Enjoy the "adiction". There's a lot worse things you could be doing in this life.

I hear that.

whoooo hoooo, gotta love ebay second chance offers. was bummed because i got out bid at the last second but now looks like i will be adding MvsB to my collection after all. doing the happy dance. another big dog off the list.

Dave,

I remember joining this forum a month or two ago and saying, "two or three trees in ground and maybe a couple in pots".  Well, this afternoon I mapped out my backyard to accomodate five more fig trees inground including removing a worthless Bradford Pear tree taking up valuable fig space.  That's in addition to the Smith and Celeste I planted this fall.  Then I may consider planting a tree or two in the front/side yard.  Yup, I need FAA.  When's the next meeting?

Yes sir steve i know how you feel. i wanted to get my collection up anyway for biz reasonsas well as tasty food. figured if i plant 3 of each kind that i grow. on should give me cuttings to propagate for sales, one one for trade/sharing, and the other will give me some cuttings the following year for propagation. then it should start all over. nobody here grows figs that i have ever herd of in my 31 years here. and thats somthing i intend to change.

i donate about 80% of all produce i grow to the needy any how so this will make a little bit more for them down the road. until i get the farm up and going. then project ark will be in full swing. little thing im working on putting together. unfortunatly it wont be ready for a few years. ark= A Random act of Kindness. I think with the right attitude and plan we can do away with hunger, atleast localy to start with. thats my mission and thats why i do what i do.

For a man is not judged by what he owns, or by who he was liked by. but what he does with the time given him. items bought over a span of life cannoot be taken with you at your moment. naked we all enter this world and the same way we shall leave it. so your greatest gift is what you leave behind. not some trinket to be tucked away untill generations pass not knowing who owned it. i want to leave a farm behind to help feed any in need, and on it i will plant the seeds of love and hope to aid all.

Very nice.
