fertilizer for fig tree

I have recently bought an Italian Black fig tree from a nursery with no fig yet, abt 6 ft height etc. Can I put fruit spike as fertilizer to see if possible to get fruits before end Sept, I live in Vancouver, B.C. Tks

Pacifica

Fertilizer won't help...NOTHING will help at this stage if there are no small figs present.
Paully can better weigh in on this.

~i used fruit spikes ,fig trees love them,i don't know why that tree isn't producing, but FRUIT  spikes can only help your tree for SURE ~ALWAYS FEED YOUR FIG TREES .SPIKES ARE A GREAT CHOICE ~

Try pinching or pruning the top.  I still dont know if you have enough season left to get figs however.

I applied fruit spikes to my new Brown Turkey this morning together with 10-10-10 fertilizer for the foliage to see how it works. It might be late for this year but I think is no harm to try.
Thanks to all !

By the way, according to the label attached, it says this Brown Turkey fig will have 2 crops a years. Is is right ?

Yes, brown turkey has an early breba crop on last years wood and a main crop on new growth that year.  The breba is generally smaller than the main crop.

Figs take about 3-4 months to ripen once they start forming and I believe brown turkey is on the long end of that scale.  If there isn't that much time before your first frost, you'd have to protect the figs somehow before they ripen to harvest them.

Thank you Don !
