They are for in ground trees only. The package directions tell you how many to use and where to place them. They make other, smaller spikes for container plants.

Hi, In the pic on the package, the lady is feeding an in ground tree. You have 9 sticks of 100grams in that pack. In small pots, I use a small hand of fertilizer every other month. I would guesstimate 30 to 50 grams. I prefer to spread the fertilizer all around the pot / the area for all roots to reach the fertilizer. The sticks would have a tendency to concentrate the fertilizer in one spot. I use the standard blue fertilizer 10/10/10 (for vegetables, tomato plants...) in ground and in pots. Does it say if it is a slow release fertilizer ? The only fear, in pots, is the fertilizer burn; if you give too much fertilizer at once. I'd probably try to break the sticks in two or three and spread around 1/3 on each applying every other month.

Hi jdsfrance, thank you very much for your recommendation. In view to play safe, I would use 10-10-10 for my fig trees planted in container as suggested.
