Fertilizers - NPK Value of Everything

I was reading another post where there was discussion of using wood ash to fertilize. I was curious - On looking up the NPK values of wood ash I stumbled across this very informative page:

http://www.lundproduce.com/N-P-K-Value-of-Everything.html

There are additional useful resources on the site.....

That is interesting. I am very surprised at some of the nitrogen values of some of the manures. They are much lower than I would have thought. Thanks for posting that.

I was surprised with some of the stuff being used as fertilizer:

Hair: 14/0/0
Dried Blood: 10.0-14.0/1.0-5.0/0

Hair must be in the "very slow release category":)

Not when you start getting up as old as I am...  it goes far too quickly.

You might like this site even better.  Sortable and searchable.

Regarding NPK, Wood ash is great but no/low on "N", They must be used with care, as all that calcium makes them highly alkaline, Fig tree like acid soil.

"N" is very important for young fig tree, with higher "N" fertilizer in NPK=312, your young fig tree grow fast.

For this reason, it is not good idea to use wood ash alone.

I may be wrong, Wood ash may be good for fruits stage.

It might be good stuff that
Hair + wood ash = great fertilizer
