Quite interesting. Have tried last year to buy the book “Fichi di Puglia storia, paesaggi, cucina e conservazione del fico in Puglia” by  Francesco Minonne , and could not find it. I believe it is a great book and will keep searching.

Still a pipe dream. well at least i started growing some males. seeing some wasps here and there but no wasp is enetring my figs.
i will do it finally with or without their help - currently i am manually pollinating lemon guava's and passionfruit (they are easy and can be done by hand only).

If, as you say they were around your yard, I wouldn't be surprised if here and there they had accomplished a job or two.. They can be very elusive..

A genuine pleasure to read through all the links.  I especially love to see fig trees growing in natural settings, and looking at the closeups of all the ripe fruit.  What variety!

I wish the climate in the USA was more fig-friendly.  90% of their work is done by Mother Nature.  Looking at these photos makes me wish I had dual-citizenship.  I could very easily spend the winter months living on some rustic farm in Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece, France.

Maybe in my next life.....
