Ciao Martin, received phone call from fig friend said look Martin put pic of the Abruzzese! Some good fig friends keep me well posted on the happenings on the forum. You are growing so well this wonderful little tree! I am very happy! I have not been to computer as wearing this back brace from back issues and don't answer much. Hurts to sit down. But getting much better. As jason pointed out, the leaves are distinct on this tree, somewhat reminiscent of its Sicilian cousins of the Etna area, HC ect, but very very defined hard curves and points, and distinctive fruits. But absolutely hell to root on most occassions for me.I have mostly 99 percent success rooting every other variety, but not this stubborn tree. you will see as tree mature more how especially the leaves will mature and form interestingly. Depend on how fast or slow grows. It will exibit a unique 3 lobe pattern if tree slows down growth. 5 or more when grow faster. The leaves are also very very rough, like sandpaper at times, which is why I think is so good for DRY, HOT, arid climes like its homeland in Castelfrentano. The mother tree back in old country in our land is well over 170 years old and other parts of town and the province there are specimens who are well older than that! . The fruit is yes, darkpurple to purple, delicious medium sized usually, depends. You will enjoy this figs tree, it is usually only common in Abruzze. Enjoy, very pleased for you! Ciao Ciao Ciao!!!!!
