Yesterday I took some clients out for a business dinner at a my favorite Northern Italian restaurant that is highly rated by Zagats. We had a fig appetizer that was exquisite. They made it with fresh "California Figs" (I'm assuming Mission) baked with gorgonzola cheese and topped with prosciutto. They were glazed with a sweet port wine and served with garnishes of fresh mulberries, lavender and greens. The only down side was the portion was only 2 figs :( but what a great treat.
