Fig art

I sometimes find interesting examples of figs in paintings, etc, and thought I'd start a thread to share. If you find any 'fig art', please feel free to post it here too.

Here is one I just found that I thought cool.

This photo I thought pretty:

Wow!  Thanks for sharing, Gina!

Suzi

Thank you Gina - very nice.

As I've mentioned sometime before I love Julian Merrow-Smith's still life paintings. All are wonderful but his figs are delicious. I asked him the name of the fig in the first painting I bought. It was Noire de Caromb, http://shiftinglight.com/2008/07/two_figs.html#001863. This is what started my hunt for said fig. It looked luscious! Yes, he's located in France. Haven't been able to talk him into sending me cuttings though. ;-)

http://www.shiftinglight.com click on archives and search FIGS, TWO FIGS, and THREE FIGS to see more of his paintings.

Sue

That tree in post #2 is beautiful.

Thanks for the links Sue. Here is link that shows many of his paintings on one page so you can click on what you want to see more of. It might be heresy here, but I especially like some of his paintings of cherries. His garlic is nice too. Lots of nice stuff.  http://paintingaday.shiftinglight.com/

Dave. I agree. I love the color, texture and health of the entire tree photo in post 2.

Anyone have any guesses what the fig in post # 5 might be?

Thanks. I think it's cool too. I believe it's a photo that has had the background fuzzed, and contrast intensified. I also like that most of it is monotone so the inside of the fig pops.

Wow, this is the best topic ever posted! All these pictures are just beautiful, thank you.

Edit: wow sorry I can't get this HTML right

There should really be a coffee table picture book for figs like Amy Goldman's "Compleat Squash"

Here's a few more. :)

I love the classics too.
