Fig Babies

Here's a picture of some fig babies hiding out under my boat. I'm guessing they needed a little shade before going out in the ground.

Alan, I conduct research on different fig propagation methods. Most of those went to fig friends and to local nurseries in trades.

Looks good Dan. I did the same thing Saturday when I found the rain had drowned a few of mine while I was on vacation last week. I like the boat too.

Gene,

That picture is from a couple of years ago. I have about half that many rooted this year by other rooting methods. I got a late start this year. I'm now rooting a bunch of "summer" cuttings and will post pictures of my method when I'm done with the rooting. You will appreciate that method whenever you run across one of those local heirloom figs we seem to have in abundance around here.

We just can't seem to win with our weather.......we go from an extreme drought condition to almost flooding conditions!!!! The rain comes down so hard and fast.....it just cannot drain before flooding occurs. Just hope no pesky hurricane comes along to make it worst yet.

Boy would l like to be your fig friend!! LOL They look great. Something very encouraging about a sight like that!

I always enjoy looking at these pictures too every once in a while......

What you see in this picture is only about 1/3 of what I rooted that year. There are figs on the other side of the boat, on the back of the boat in the glare where you cannot see them. There are some out of sight on the extended front deck of the lawn mower. To the right of my lawnmower I have two 20 ft. long shelves where those starts get a few hours of morning and evening stronger sunlight. That year there where even some at my mom's house. I rooted well over 200+ cuttings that year. Quiet a few LSU Gold and JH Adriatics were distributed to old folks in my area who were kind enough to let me take a look at their fig trees on my many fig hunts. I have no doubt that some forum members who purchased some fig trees from a couple of Louisiana nurseries now own some that I rooted.
