This is a type of banana from Southeast Asia called fig banana. You can see why it's called that. It is suppose to be very tasty.

Not sure, but it is native to Philippines. They call it figs banana.

My wife is in the Philippines as we speak. She continually sends me photos of all the incredible places she visits. She needs to stop that right now! I wonder if she could bring me a corm or two of this fig banana?

Unfortunately we only have frozen saba here so the turon is tasty but just not as tasty as fresh plantain with the cane sugar.

Wait! I remember seeing those bananas when I was in the Philippines! They are good.

I personally do not like that 'slimy' taste off any banana kind.
However, I was told that eating it, is good to any person nutrition intake.
Sooo, once in awhile, I do manage to kind of eat/swallow at most half off one.

I got flowers on my banana trees but not long enough season to ripen.
