Good topic - There are a few good books out there & looking forward to see what folks post. I'll start with these.
The Fig by William Storey, Julius Enderud, Wadie Saleeb and Edward Nauer published by the Jurupa Mountains Cultural Center. Copies can be obtained from the CRFG.
Fig Varieties, A Monograph by Ira Condit it can be downloaded here http://californiaagriculture.ucanr.org/images/HILGARDIAv23n11p323CONDITonFIG.pdf This one is not so much about culture but might be of interest.
The Fig by Ira Condit It can be viewed here http://chla.library.cornell.edu/cgi/t/text/text-idx?c=chla;cc=chla;q1=fig;rgn=title;cite1=condit;cite1restrict=book%20author;view=toc;idno=3116126
The Fig: Its History, Culture, and Curing (mentioned in a posting above) can be found by clicking this link to Google Books
The Fig Booklet or The New Fig Booklet by Ray Givan and Fred Born. I am not sure where to get it now. Ray had a website and can't locate it.
CRC Handbook of Flowering, Volume 6 by Abraham H. Halevy. Ficus section by J. Galil - excellent but expensive.
The Encyclopedia of Fruit & Nuts by Jules Janick and Robert E. Paull - another excellent resource but is expensive. Good section on figs.
You might find some of these books through the library system. http://www.worldcat.org/ "World Cat" is an excellent way to locate books in libraries. It may be possible to do an interlibrary loan to get access to some of them.
