Fig Cuttings 2013

Mike, OK, my typing isn't much better than my handwriting.

Steve, Yes.

James, "refresh".  Yes, the Foundation website is still quite simple. That will change over time. There is a ton of up-front stuff that goes into starting a venture like this. The "To-Do" list gets longer, not shorter. Frankly, at this early stage, apart from all of the paperwork and forms, and government stuff, it is mostly about $$. We are working on being extremely frugal, at this time. After the money shows up, we can buy land, plant trees, and then the fun begins.

Does the X in front of a number signify something special?  ie.  XE040 Col de Dame Gris?

JD,

Yes, it means something to me, when locating the cuttings. It does not affect those who are ordering.

Honestly, this has gotten a lot more organized over the last year, so there is more info on the list than is necessary because it is based on the Figs 4 Fun collection accession data. It is too time consuming to clean it all up. As we get further into the process of developing the Foundation, this database will become more important and more extensive.

For those interested in cuttings, the inventory numbers are the most useful information because they correlate to the pictures in the Figs 4 Fun Varietal database.

Well I went through, picked my selections, imported them into excel, sorted by #, then sorted by A/B/C  and totaled my bill.  $1108.  Guess I'm going to have to do a little pruning or win the lottery.  Off to buy my ticket!   :(

Jon, is there any way we could get a half order for half price?   Say 1 CdD G for $6?  It would stretch out the supply   :)

it will have to wait another year.. urgh.. my new puppies ate all my fig fund. and jon has two that i really want.

Bob,

I can help reduce the bill - I can just tell you that some of them are "sold out" which will probably be the case, anyway.

Jon,

My good good friend. How are you bro? How is it there in "Paradise"?
How's the family?

Cameta[s] (sp?); (GM/MP) :

[A strong 100+ year old fig tree growing (somewhere) in Formentera; Balearic Islands, Spain]

That is a fabulous tree, George.

Enormous trunk and the pruning of that tree is for lack of my vocabulary - fantastic.

Not sure if it is a single tree though; I see multiple main trunks.
Thinner wood stakes support the horizontal branches.

Really, really cool tree photo. Looks like the lower branches have been perfectly grazed by something that can't reach very high.

Spectacular photo, George.  And are you tantalizing us with GM 155?  This is on my super wish list!  One day!

What!?!?  Am I some kind of a low priority slob where everyone else gets first choice?   Harrrrumph!  :)

After spending the whole day agonizing I'm down to $1056.  Making progress!

I was just offering to make the choices for you. Thought I was being helpful.

It would be interesting to know if that is the work of a long-term grafting project (i.e., inarch grafts of additional support trunks, giving the effect of banyan trees in the tropics).

Let the race begin :-)

Jon, I emailed my request yesterday (1/30) but just realized that the instructions don't indicate how to submit our request.  I know you have different email addresses and hope I sent it to the correct one, though I suspect you get them all regardless of the email address used.

This copy and paste from page four of the instructions:

E-mail your order to Encanto Farms at encantofarms@cox.net. We will set aside what is available and advise you of the quantities and pricing, including payment instructions.

Thanks, Jake. Honestly, I did read those instructions completely....two weeks ago.  Much of the information is repeated on the cutting availability list and I forgot all about going back to the original instruction document.  I sent it to the right email address anyways.

It got here, Harvey.

I'll blame my confusion partially on my excitement and also being a bit spaced out...I have a bad cold or flu and have had a fever for 2 days.  My uncle died on Sunday and his funeral is tomorrow.  Thinking about figs helps ease the burden some but I'm definitely not all here. Thanks.

My lovely season :)

Sorry to hear about your uncle Harvey.
You were telling me about him a couple weeks ago. He's at peace now.
