This is how I finalize my fig cuttings for winter storage and sharing.

Curious to hear what others do.

I do it the lazy easy way (when I do it). I light up a fat candle and let it melt some of its wax around the wick making a melted wax puddle. I dip the end of the cuttings in it once, or twice if needed. That is it.

Watched the video earlier today, thanks for making this video nick. There are no videos on youtube about waxing cuttings and this was perfect. Only scared me a little when the wax caught on fire and was smoking, that little pie pan seems a bit flimsy.

Please don't set your kitchen on fire!

Darn was hoping no one noticed the fire haha. I'm not sure why as I have used it several times prior and after. Either way, scared me a bit and I was careful not to set the heat as high afterwards!

Last year I used ziplocs with a slightly damp paper towel. That worked well in the fridge. This year I will likely vaccuum seal all of them.

I use an old fry daddy at 250 F with food grade cheese wax from Field & Forest mushroom growers supply. They sell wax daubers that work well to seal the side limb cuts that are hard to dip.

Nice daubers, I use one of the smaller cheap paint/stain brushes with tan bristles for the logs and cuttings. Same one has been in my wax pan for 10 years now.
