Here is a photo of a cutting, I cut in Oct. 2013, yes 15 moths old! Had these in my Frig in the Bldg in my backyard. Had forgot all about them,today I was clearing out the Frig of some old stuff and noticed the small plastic tote. There was several cuttings. I cut these  in the Fall of 2013,from a Tree on the side of a road, when no one was looking ;)

So, I was curious, if they would be any good after all this time.  I scraped one of them to see if they was any good and to my amazement, I seen green!! They weren't wrapped or nothing, just threw in a small plastic container and put in the crisper in the frig. Just thought some of y'all would like to know, that some cuttings are still viable after 15 months in the frig...:)   Edit: Well, hopefully viable...We'll See this Spring.....

I would not assume they are viable, though, just because the inner bark is green. It is possible they no longer have the moisture or energy to make it even when they look good. But I think you are just the MAN to test them. Hope you are successful!

I saw some sticks still green colored, but that were dead because they had dried out.
So now, to have the full proof, you've got to root them :) . Nevertheless, that's your plan, I suppose ?

Everybody , I will try to root some of them this Spring (they will be 18 months old then)...Really, don't want to fool with cuttings this Winter, after rooting so many last Winter : )

I am very interested to see how and what they do.  An accident that will revel an insight into the world of rooting and help us understand more about these wonderful trees.

15 months? I hate to think what other unknown fuzzy things you found in that fridge, lol. ;)

I just started some today that I recieved in Dec 2013 5 or 6 varieties. If any make it I will post the results.
