VERY NICE SCORE ABCD!!!!!!
Go luck with them all!!

What country did these cuttings come from?

Harvey, they are from Greece.

Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmmmm,,,,,,,,,

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Wow lucky you..Greece has some excellent varieties and they are great to share and trade too lol

That seems strange.  Fig cuttings from Greece and most countries have been prohibited entry into the USA since May 2013 when a Federal Order was issued as part of quarantine actions to protect against two long-horned beetles.  Material from Canada is allowed (unless it originated through certain countries) and then, subject to various requirements, material is allowed only from China, Netherlands, Taiwan, Costa Rica, Domincan Republic, Guatemala, Mexico, and Thailand.  Again, material from all other countries is prohibited.  See pages 2-18 through 2-22 at http://www.aphis.usda.gov/import_export/plants/manuals/ports/downloads/plants_for_planting.pdf and, for the entire Postentry quarantine regulations, see http://www.aphis.usda.gov/import_export/plants/manuals/domestic/downloads/postentry.pdf (big downloads).  I had discussed adding Ficus to my import permit in the summer of 2013 be abandoned those efforts after being told of the limitations.

Even if one is successful in importing Ficus, it is subject to being held under quarantine and a pre-approved site must be established/inspected (except Canada).  I just can't comprehend how anyone from APHIS would release Ficus cuttings from Greece in the circumstances mentioned in this thread.

If this is the case then, Harvey it's time to add more ficus space lol.

Wouldn't the seller have to be inspected and have paperwork as well? I doubt an ebay seller would go through the trouble...

Guys, the USDA are reading these post.  Don't be surprised if you have a rep knocking on your door in a few weeks.  I'm just saying......

Dennis, I was thinking the same thing. Ouch!!

Kelby, yes, if an import is made, it also requires a phytosanitary certificate (and different certifications, depending on the country being imported from).  Some eBay sellers of other things I've bought in the past have offered phytosanitary certificates but I've not seen that mentioned by any sellers of figs.  Importing from Canada is the easiest since no quarantine is required but importing to Canada from other countries is similarly difficult to the USA.

Dennis, the original poster had already been contacted by USDA.  What other comments in this thread are raising a concern with you?

My 2 cents
I am skeptical of most of it.  I also think that you are only asking for trouble to import anything plant related, from anywhere and openly brag about it here, they are watching our forum!!

@Harvey, For some reason it seems that in the recent past, our forum has changed in that there seems to be a few questionable threads posted by a few new people,  I don't know why, I may be wrong about all of it but for some reason "troll" keeps coming into my mind.

Just saying!

The problem is there is almost no way to get cuttings here from Greece LEGALLY. However you have found a way to circumvent the system and are being rewarded with rare and highly sought after varieties. If this is done legally I commend you for the hard work and determination it must have took to make this happen.oh one last thing you have a disease called FIG FEVER! Now go get me cuttings of ADAM FIG and VASALIKA MELISSI.

I will say weird things do happen with the forces that control these things.  I was at the world orchid conference in Miami and one of the sellers had flasks of an orchid that was on CITES and not legal for import.  I looked at them and was going to buy them but a friend saied the were not legal.  I decided that they were not worth the risk even thought they were selling like hot cakes.  A friend who really wanted them went to agents who were at the show and asked.  They checked paperwork and said no not legal and made people return them.  After a large number were returned the seller complained say they submitted there paperwork and everything had been approved by the government.  So they reversed the decision and made just those plants legal.  So another friend bought them all.  Then the officials changed there mind again (after the show) and said they were legal to own but not to sell or breed with.  I think my friend still has them and I think is still waiting for changes so he can sell them.  I would not have believed it but I watched the whole thing happen since I was working in a both right across from sellers.

ABCD I really hope these are not the Yellow Greek cuttings that I sent you. If they are you could at least call them what they are. "U. Yellow Greek AD". To get cuttings from F4F members, grow them up, and then sell cuttings I believe is perfectly fine. To trade cuttings of recently acquired cuttings, again no problem. But to buy in bulk, (2 packages) and then sell them on eBay is just shady. If I am mistaken I will delete this post and offer my apologies, but I don't think I'm wrong.

Aaron, they certainly look just like the cuttings I received from you.  I did give one cutting to a lady at the garden nursery and did label it exactly like you said.  Unk Yellow Greek AD.
