Fig described as an Epihanie / Smithsonian

  • Joy

In this month's issue of Smithsonian, focused on food, Mimi Sheraton wrote of 10 "Epiphanies".
One was " a green fig plucked from a tree in an Italian garden." It was in the Marche town of Senigallia beside the Adriatic- " a small, plump jade green fig"--"suede-like skin"--"honeyed center"...
OK Figgies, name that fig on the count of 10!
One
Two....
Oh wait! And does anyone have a twig of it extra?

pix would be great. i had one when i had my Paradiso Gene first time. but there are many great white/green figs. of course, martin will not approve.

dang it.. now i have to buy that silly magzine..

Even if there was a pic, most mags just grab one of "A green fig"- even the exalted Smithsonian- at least in this context. So geography will have to do, Pete.
Is "sueded skin" a color or texture?
Somewhere else in the issue is an article on the psychology of personal taste, which is another reason to go buy one. Always interesting.

Perhaps Italian Honey?  Could be any number of figs, though.
