Fig eyes

Anyone tried to artificially seal a fig eye? With honey perhaps? Love to hear your thoughts. Had a few Lyndhurst White I had to pull early due to small sugar ants desecrating the figs.

What's an ant moat?

There's also a product called "tanglefoot" that is supposed to work well for ants.  You can search for it on the forum.

I use green saucers as well as seed start trays without holes, as they are cheaper and hold more water.0525151442a.jpg
They keep out ants, as well as slugs and snails.  For me the ants will farm aphids on the new growing tips, so it solves that problem as well.  Was going to try some beeswax on the eyes of my one open eye figs and see if it stops water and the fruitflies from getting in.  Will post update if it works.
