Fig Fans NorCal Get-Together

I've been thinking that it's time for a Northern California Figanza, so I am having one here on the farm in Sebastopol. It will be on Saturday, August 29th, from 11:00-3:00. We should have MANY figs to taste, as well as plants to swap, a fig grafting demo, food, drinks, and a good time. I am located about an hour North of San Francisco, just West of Santa Rosa. Easy drive from the 101. So please make plans to come on up (or down) to wine country and join us. You can e-mail me to RSVP at pennington_gary@msn.com Thanks, and hope to see you in August!

Gary

i wish i could come...
 i hope its a great Get-Together.

Thanks Andreas. We wish you could come too.

Gary, I would love to visit when it is warm and the sun is shining!  Alas, I won't be able to make this one though.  I'm sure it will be a great time.

That's wonderful for those in the NorCal!
Thanks, Gary, for doing this.
I wish it would be closer so I could stop by.
I will think about an excuse to travel that far really hard but probably will not make it.

I'll be there!

Steve, I hope you will be able to visit again one of these days. Especially in fig season, and in the daylight!
Make the drive, Igor, and I'll put you up for the night:)

Gary,

I would come but I leave for Hawaii that day. In fact I'll be half-way there. Aloha.

Sue

Hawaii is one place I like as much as where I am, Sue. Fresh mangoes and papayas and Kona coffee, early in the morning with the breeze coming off of the ocean. It would've been great to have you here, but I'm happy for you, that you'll be in paradise. Aloha.

The only thing that will keep me away is an emergency.  I hope you can teach me something about grafting!

Hope you have another next year Gary because I will be there! My sis lives in Vallejo so it would be a nice day's outing.
This will be my last trip to Hawaii. I have too many other places I want to visit while I physically can...old age sucks.

Ah  that sounds like such fun.  Too far from South Florida for me though.   So glad I did all that traveling with my hubby to the West Coast and Hawaii  those years ago.   Old bones and joints don't do well in a 14 inch (LOL) airline seat now Sue so I know what you mean.   I can visualize you all snacking on figgys and drinking that wine spodeodi.   be sure and post lots of pictures for us.   Joyce

Oh gosh! This sounds fun.

I'm just down the way, in Oakland.

Anybody want to carpool?

I'm in SoCal, but I've always been a NorCal boy at heart. This is a good excuse for a road trip.

Hey Lisa and Paul, I hope you can both make it.

Paul, Kenny expressed interest and maybe a carpool would work out for you! :)

psssssst: don't tell anyone that I only have five fig trees, and that two are unknown varieties.

psssssst: Then you are coming to the right place, Lisa:)

Lisa, if we're still planning to swap figs at Gary's, it will be great for expanding your fig collection. I went a little overboard with rooting fig cuttings this year (though still have varieties I'm looking for!), so I'm planning to bring some of the surplus to make room for others. You'd be more than welcome to some of them.

Kenny is a "she" and is from the SD area: http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/profile/3089719

She was at Jon's fig fiesta last year (in case you went, as you would then know her)

You folks are serious enablers.

Seriously. The forum is super helpful.

And it also makes you aware of all the types of figs by insidiously showing you all these beautiful cross-sections of figs and mouthwatering descriptions, so then you want to collect just one or two more types. I went from buying ONE fig tree last year to having 40+ varieties in various stages of growth. I blame the forum, for both their generosity and their knack of showcasing different varieties. ;)

I'll be there Gary...with bells on and figs in tow

I will try to drive up from the East Bay, too.
