Fig Fest At Marius Place

Visited Marius and man, we are treated royally with a fig fest. He has so many quality variants and I am most impressed at the health of Marius plants, his generosity & his wisdom in rigging things up to treat his plants. Well, I brought along my wife & my in-laws and we were on a fig binge. It was unavoidable -- the dark figs tasted so good. We were allowed free reign on his fig kingdom and encouraged to try this & that. Thanks Marius & his brother in-law too. Of course to Mariu's wife for treating us so warmly like family. Hmmm, with Marius help I manage to get my inlaws addicted to growing figs. Guess what, Marius gave them the best variants suitable for my inlaw zone to start off and even offered a rare Jolly Tiger. His mother Jolly Tiger tree is in a huge box with wheels. Man, this guy is serious about figs. Thanks again for the warm welcome. We ate so many high quality small dark figs and it is hard for me to tell which is the best. I came away much convinced that the Florea variant should be given more emphasis in colder zones. In Marius place, the main crop is already over.

My inlaws talked so much about figs the whole journey back to Dayton & at dinner too. They are impressed by how superb top notch freshly pick fig variants tasted.

Nice post Paully!  How does he rig things up to treat his plants?

Glad you had such a wonderful time!

Suzi

Sounds wonderful ! I had the same question as Suzi. I just bought an unnamed Spanish from Marius on ebay. Can't wait to get that !

He has solar energy to run pumps, shower heads to water fig trees, large water storage bins for collecting run offs the roof, water from stream, etc etc.
Healthy plants. He is a fan of dark figs.

According to Marius, some of his no name varieties are very good - mostly these varieties came to USA via immigrants.

:-)
