Fig Fever

I think I've caught Fig Fever.  I bought a regular Brown Turkey fig tree (3g pot from Lowes) back in April and now I find myself with 11 varieties in two short months!  I now also have:

LSU Purple
Desert King
Violet de Bordeaux
Lattarula
Black Mission
Ronde de Bordeaux
Hardy Chicago
Verte
Marseilles
O'Rourke

I wish you the best with your varieties!

welcome, you pick the right fig trees for our zone6B.I live in northeest philly myself, but my trees are in containers, so I can have rare tropical types.I put them in the garage with windows for the winter.Good luck,Jeremy.

Yes, the fig fever is very contagious! If you don't watch it you will be wanting to buy land so  you can "increase the herd" so to speak.

Welcome!  You have some nice varieties there.

Fig fever is right, or fig addiction LOL

Thanks everyone. I am going to try to pause this year after one more acquisition. Aside from the brown turkey the rest are in 1 gallon containers so I'll be housing them in the garage over the winter

Be warned, it's only just begun.

I got about 15 varieties on my first year. I lost about 9 the first winter, from not really doing things the right way and not knowing how to care for those babies... Fortunetly, I have learned from my mistakes. Still, after 5 years, want to get new varieties to experiment and taste. I find the entire process awesome, from rooting to harvesting!

PS:Good list, RDB is by far my most vigorous grower, and producer. Aside from the great taste. I am planting a few outside this year and hoping these survive the next winter. Of course, all my other ones sleep the winter cozy in the garage.

Good luck!  happy growing!
