Fig Fiesta

I agree with Gina, that Unknown Pastilliere has a beautiful color!  Does it taste as good at it looks?

The sample of Unknown Pastilliere I had was good but not great.  I don't recall any pronouncements on the thoughts on others.  Folks were mostly asking about the uncertainty of it's I.D.

My unknown pastiliere dropped the figs. Not sure if it requires pollination.

For me, the UP was distinctively different from the rest we tested. It had the highest acidity level, like a fig+lemon.
What is the source of this fig?
Bass, is yours the same as Jon's ?

I had my best fruit set on UP, ever, this year - maybe only dropped one or two. It is possibly a San Pedro type. It has a breba crop, which, if I understand correctly, doesn't occur in smyrna types. The main crop does appear to need caprification.

The ones are the Fiesta would have been much more extraordinary is they had been 1-2 days more ripe - but, then, no one would have been here to eat them (well, except moi!).

Jon,
I think the UP was very good!
Let me be the first in line to get some Winter cuttings if there will be any :)
