Fig Gelato Anyone?

Went to get some gelato today and they had a fig and goat cheese flavor which was finished with honey and carmel. Anyone hungry?

Looks great!  How was it?

It's was really good, the goat cheese gave it a richness and the honey pared well with the fig flavor. They used local fresh figs and I think that made all the difference.

I like to feel the seed crunch in these.
try opuntia Gelato which is great too.

Congrats.

Where could I find opuntia gelato?

DIY - take a vanilla ice-cream/frozen yogurt  and blend it with opuntia fruit or jam.

Sounds very tasty!
So you have local figs in Vermont and it is enough of them for a gelato?
Wow, I find this ironic since I have not seen a fig gelato in Los Angeles .

If in the Philadelphia area, try Capogiro Gelato. It's quite good. About 10 years ago, I used to find their pint sized gelato (including Fico Nero/Black Mission which was outstanding) at Whole Foods in New Jersey. They really pushed locally sourced ingredients, except for tropical fruits. I suppose local is a relative term.

The only bad press I saw about them was about their fig, goat cheese and balsamic gelato which was in an otherwise glowing review.

Please fix me a bowl. :)

Thanks for the tip, I will actually be in philly at the beginning of October for a wedding and I will definitely check it out!

Mmmmm, sounds delish!  I've already got the goats (Mini-Saanens) and the honey, now just have to wait for my little figgy twigs to root, grow and produce. :)
