fig getting lighter?

What variety of fig gets lighter as it ripens?

I have an UNK, dug from a old house place. A couple of figs are starting to plump-up, but they are going from dark green to almost yellow. That seems strange.

Also, someone looked at it and said it was English Brown Turkey, but the English Brown Turkeys at the near-by orchard are already ripening while mine are not yet. So I don't know what to think right now.

Anyone see a fig get lighter as it ripens?

mostly Capri Figs :)

Edit: I thought you were talking about the weight.

I've only personally seen one fig ripen so far and that was my Celeste. It went from light green stagnant stage to a light yellow the first 2 days when it started to plump. After that though it started getting purplish. Are yours staying a light color throughout the days ripening?

All the yellow figs that I've seen (3 or 4 varieties) start dark - medium green and turn yellow as they ripen.

GeneDaniels,
Several dark cultivars turn yellow before getting darker.

This photo taken a couple days ago shows the ripening stages pretty well. The oldest fig to left has ripened and the skin is cracking and to the the right are the progressively younger figs on the branch.

These start out dark green and then turn this beautiful shade of yellow as they ripen. I have a number of others that become lighter as well but these are definitely the prettiest.DSC_0079.jpg

Hi Gendaniels,
my ufti strain if the figs are shaded by stems or leaves they turn out yellow instead of violet ... I liked when they were violet when ripe :°°°°(
But the color of the interior of the fig is still consistent and with some liquid honey inside - so the taste is not that much different yellow, violet or green with markings on the skin.

Pete, that southern BT looks a lot like my UNK right now. So maybe it is a BT after all.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but have very much the same question. I have Chiappetta drooping, but still very much green in color, where photos depict it purple when ripe.
