Fig Growing Platform

Finally finished the platform. It measures about 4' X 24" with 3 hinged polycarbonate ( SunTuf from HD) panels which can be raised as the figs grow and eventually be swung up and over the back out of the way (as shown on the far right section). The main reason for its construction was to save space and make mowing easier, protect the young plants from the sun for their first venture outside and protect the plants from potentially damaging rain when needed. The "south walls" are 4 x 8 sheets of x grade ply and will, hopefully, retain heat during the day in Sept. and Oct.- radiating energy back to the plants during the cool nights.
